PuppetsI created the following puppets with wire armatures so they can be animated. Bat I created this puppet as inspiration for a Halloween workshop. I used a wire armature, wrapped in interfacing, with a needle felted body and dyed interfacing for the wings. (2021) Badger I created this puppet to feature in a winter animation alongside a rabbit puppet I created. It’s made with needle felting on a wire armature with oven-baked clay and wax details. (2020) Toy I created this puppet with fabric sewn over a wire armature. I created this for an animation about a boy who is afraid of the bath. This puppet ended up being used as a prop for practice animations during the Aardman Academy Stop Motion 1 course. (2020) Cat Modeled on the family cat, I created this puppet to practice blending wool. I created the eyes using a hot glue gun and layered acrylic paint. I have developed since making this puppet and would now create the eyes using glass domes. (2019) Rabbit This needle felted puppet was an early attempt at the character in ‘The Unwelcome Guest’. While I liked the long ears and manic eyes, I abandoned it for a puppet with fingers. (2020) Lorek Byrnison Model based on Lyra and Lorek from Phillip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials.’ I made Lorek with a needle felted body on a wire armature. I constructed Lyra’s jacket out of sewn fabric, with a needle felted collar. (2019)
